Adelaide is having a birthday party and everyone is invited. To celebrate 175 years of the City of Adelaide there will be a 'Picnic in Elder'. This is a free community event from 11am- 4pm on Saturday 31 October in Elder Park. Adelaide will travel back in time to the late 1800s.

The Elder Park Rotunda will form the perfect backdrop for the colonial era.

The Elder Park Rotunda will form the perfect back drop for the colonial era. Visitors are asked to wear their favourite old fashioned attire and learn to dance colonial styles. Have a play of the didgeridoo, sample some traditional bush tucker or simply sit back and enjoy the stunning surroundings of Elder Park to the sounds of The Audreys, as well as some of Adelaide's best local artists.

Bring your own picnic with your family and friends to enjoy an afternoon of fun, food and history made and in the making. This celebration will give Adelaidians a taste of what Adelaide was like one hundred and seventy five years ago. Adelaide was the first local government in Australia and certainly continues to set the pace of progression.

Adelaide of yesteryear was a pioneer city of free citizens and enterprise. Many of the founding leaders are honoured throughout the city by name. Looking forward to this family day of celebrations in this most central location along the River Torrens. Further details on the Facebook Events page here
