Event:
Will You Take Tea?
Every year The Abbey Museum hosts Picnic at Pemberley and every year it gets better. The Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology will be transformed into a picturesque Regency paradise where you will feel you have travelled back in time. Funds raised will be used to build an art gallery to house the fabulous Old Masters and Icons in the Museum collection.

An elegant event.

If you are an Austen fan you simply must attend. You can even meet and be photographed with Mr Darcy.

Should you require further inducement there are many more reasons to travel to Pemberley:

1. Learn Regency dancing. There is a workshop at 10.00 am for which you must book and a display later in the afternoon where the public may join in.

2. Try archery from 1 - 4pm. Be assured it is an engaging diversion.

3. Afternoon tea is beyond delicious. Indulge in tea served, as it should be, in beautiful china tea cups and a range of authentic Regency treats. It worth going for this alone.

4. If you are fond of a man in uniform you will enjoy the display from the handsome Noble Militia.

5. Authentic Regency games are available for you to try - Pall Mall - a simple form of croquet, Battledore - played with a shuttlecock and a small bat, and Game of Graces.

6. Stroll around elegantly and allow your costume to be admired.

Do dress up - all the best people do you know. A simple high waisted frock, a bonnet and shawl will look the part. There is a bonnet workshop beforehand on August 27th if you need assistance.

Dressing appropriately adds to the fun

The event starts at 11.30. Feel free to bring a picnic or you can preorder a picnic hamper. Spread a rug under the trees or sit at the white clothed tables.
