Pick Your Own Strawberries in MelbourneWhy not go and pick exactly the types of strawberries that you want? You can pick whatever ripeness you require at the time and even pick a few lots that are the same ripeness and can be stored together till ready to use.
I find this a great idea and far better than buying them already packed when you seem to always get some that are over ripe and often even soggy with mould on them. If you pick your own, they are as fresh as possible and will of course, last longer and hopefully be sweeter and nicer. A good idea is to bring along an Esky, so you can store them, especially if it is a hot day as they will keep longer if stored initially in the Esky.
There are several places you can pick your own strawberries and I have picked four out of those and I believe all are a good place to go.
1. Blue Hills Season Launch Festival This function will be on 9th November from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm at Blue Hills Berries and Cherries, 27 Parker Road, Silvan. To get your tickets, which are $12, go to this

Come along and mix with the sweet animals at the petting zoo, play along in the jumping castle, enjoy some live music, look at all the local market stalls, try some of the pizzas and some Italian/Sicilian cuisine. Why you could even treat yourself to some mini Dutch pancakes - the tiny ones - have an ice cream or even enjoy a classic sausage in bread. There will be free face painting for the children and of course, most importantly, come and pick your very own sweet, fresh strawberries!
The best!
