Have you had figs as sweet as these?

The fig picking season is here! Open every day from now until possibly the end of March, Glen Ewin Estate is the place to be for lovers of figs.

There are about 12,000 fig trees in their orchard comprising five different varieties. You can pick either Archipals, Deannas, Spanish Deserts, Brown Turkeys or Black Genoas depending on when exactly you decide to head out there. Remember though to check their website before doing so just in case private events are happening at that time.

When you arrive, make your way to the Fig Bar to register and pay the $5 entry fee. You will be given a wristband to wear. Then pick up an empty box or two and away you go. You are welcome to wander around the orchard picking as many (or as little) figs as you like. Once you're done, head back to the Fig Bar on your way out and pay for the figs you have picked. The current cost is $10 per kilogram which is an amazing price for the quality of figs you get.
