The cherry season for 2020 has truly arrived, and here are five locations where you can pick your own fresh cherries straight off the tree.



Harben Vale Cherries

Harben Vale Cherries at 34 Altmanns Road in Balhannah is easily accessible via the South Eastern Freeway. There's no winding roads and their orchard isn't steep either. Ample easy parking is also available close by the patch.

Entry is $8 per adult and $3 per child while your picked cherries will cost $12 per kilogram. Large groups must contact Julie on 0439001962 the night before.

Everlong Orchard

Everlong Orchard at 145 Plummers Road in Forest Range is located approximately 450 metres above sea level with high average rainfall. It has a slightly cooler summer and hence perfect for picking.

Entry is $7 per adult and $2 per child while your picked cherries will cost $14 per kilogram. Bookings are not required.

Charleston Cherries

Charleston Cherries at 308 Mount Torrens Road in Charleston offers a huge variety of cherries including merchant, lapins, simone, stella, van, summit, sunburst, sylvia, sir don, sir douglas, blackstar, gracestar and santina.

Entry is $5 per person. Picked cherries are $10 per kilogram minus $1 for each kilogram up to the cost of entry. It is recommended that you bring your own picking boxes/buckets, however new empty boxes can be purchased at $2 each. No bookings required.

Fleurieu Cherries

Fleurieu Cherries at 159 Pages Flat Road at Pages Flat has been growing cherries for 25 years. The cherries are grown under permanently enclosed netting with only natural seaweed product and organic material fertiliser. No sulphur is sprayed on the cherries.

Entry is $6 per adult and $3 per child while your picked cherries will cost $14 per kilogram. Bookings are not required but a wait time may apply to go into the orchard. Groups of less than ten people are recommended. If you prefer not to pick your own, premium, seconds and stemless cherries are also available for sale.

Harrisville Orchards

Harrisville Orchards at 72 Harris Road in Lenswood began planting cherry trees in the early 1900s and their motto has been "quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten".

Entry, which includes an exclusive picking bucket, is $8 per adult and $3 per child. Picked cherries are $14 per kilogram. No bookings required. For those who prefer not to pick your own, drive-thru cherry sales are available from 23 Harris Road.

Sounds like a good day out Audrey. I would have thought that these days OH&S requirements would stop picking cherries as they would require a ladder to reach them. They sure do look nice.
