There are many fruits you can pick yourself but for me, I just love my apples - usually red ones!
It is fun picking your own, as you get exactly what you want in size and colour and this list will give you an idea of where you can go to pick your own apples in Victoria.
Most apples come into season from January, so January to about April is prime time for you to go on picking your own apples.
PETTYS ORCHARDS1 Homestead Road

Petty's is one of Melbourne's oldest commercial orchards and it grows the largest collection of apple varieties on mainland Australia! It is definitely one place to go to get your fresh apples with more than two hundred varieties of old and rare type apples.
It is actually managed by Parks Victoria - the 25 hectares of Pettys is privately leased to a commercial operator. The Heritage Fruits Society maintains and promotes the huge collection at Petty's Orchard.
RAYNERS ORCHARDS60 Schoolhouse Road

Rayners have around 450 varieties of fruit grown here. As well as picking stone fruit in summer, feijoa, guava, persimmon and pomegranate in autumn and kiwi fruit, tamarillo and citrus fruits in winter and spring, you can also enjoy fruit tasting, learn how to bottle fruit, visit the plant nursery, or grab a bite to eat at the cafe.
Times are 8.30 am - 5.00 pm in summer and entry is free. Cost per kilogram to pick is only $5 per kilo and you can find out more at this

SUNNY CREEK ORGANIC
69 Tudor Rd, Trafalgar South
This orchard is past Gippsland's Strzelecki Ranges.
You can pick from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm every day during the summer school holidays. Closed Christmas Day.
Over the last 30 years, it has been possible to pick here and they have heritage apples and much other fruit. The pick-your-own is available in the warmer months and is open every day of the summer school holidays - just remember to bring your own containers to take home your apples!
The farm gate entry price is $8 per adult and $6 per child (2 - 12 years)
NATURIPE FRUITS
638 Bacchus Marsh Rd, Bacchus Marsh
Naturipe Fruits in Bacchus Marsh is a wonderful place for fruit picking, including apples, where you can choose from a huge variety of flavours and tastes.
All produce from this farm is fresh as you are picking it, and they don't store any fruit or use any chemicals. All over-ripe fruit is perfect to use in the sauces, jams and preserves featured in their delicious gourmet products.
The time times are from 8.30 am - 5.00 pm and entry is free.

PAYNES ORCHARDS

In the right season, you can come pick some apples from this orchard. in this small family run orchard. You can pick on weekends from 10.00 am - 3.00 pm and entry is $5 (little children no charge), fruit is priced per kg.

SANDERS ORCHARDS
Three Bridges, Yarra Valley
This orchard started with 5 acres in Woodhouse Road, Donvale. They then added another 5 acres and started working on all this.
In 2018, Sanders Apples opened its doors to the public during the apple picking season to offer people the opportunity to pick their own apples fresh from the tree.
This trail was very successful and they will be starting again in 2020 to continue to offer guests this great opportunity.
