The Perth Homeless Support Group (PHSG), will host another fun Ladies Arvo Movie Fundraiser at the intimate Backlot Studios, on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 3:00pm. Embrace Downton Abbey, in your lavish leather seats within a 50-seat state-of-the-art private luxury cinema, and experience a bygone era of privilege and service.
The proceeds of Downton Abbey go directly to the Perth Homeless Support Group, a not-for-profit charity organisation, to purchase of food and toiletries for the homeless on the streets of Perth, Western Australia.
I am sure aficionadas of Downton Abbey are up with the gossip and who is who. Though, I do not qualify in that regard, any movie featuring Dame Maggie Smith must rate an 'A'.
Basically, this lavishly presented movie, has the Crawley family learning that King George V and Queen Mary are coming to visit. The excitement (for some) is somewhat dampened when it is discovered that the king and queen travel with their own chefs and attendants. As you would expect, Mrs. Patmore, Daisy, and the rest of the servants to not take this lightly, setting the stage for an interesting time.
Not surprisingly, there is a lot more going on in this sumptuous costume drama, and fans of the TV series, can nostalgically revisit Downton Abbey, though in a slightly different era.
By seeing the needs of the homeless and those at risk of being homeless, the Perth Homeless Support Group Inc (PHSG) adopts a 'hands-on' approach acting in a way that makes a difference to their situation.
Making a difference every Sunday
PHSG volunteers meet every Sunday from 9:30am, at Wellington Square, East Perth, where the homeless can collect Care Packs (food and toiletries), and seasonal items (beanies, socks, blankets). If you would like to donate or contribute items for their Care Packs, please email email@example.com to arrange drop-off and pick up.
Surprise yourself and see how many ways you can assist this small charity with a big heart. Why not volunteer, and discover how you can put your skills to work and make a difference?
Portable snack items needed for the homeless
PHSG feed, clothe and support over 200 homeless people each week. This is a colossal effort by their volunteers, and they are in need of muesli bars, crackers and cheese spread snack packs, fruit juice in small boxes and other easily accessible and portable snack items.
You can help provide portable snack items that are easily accessible to the homeless.
You can drop off items to the PHSG Depot at 28A Munt Street, Bayswater, Monday to Friday from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Please phone 94719115 or 048793942 for any enquires.
Another way you can help is by purchasing and donating vouchers that PHSG can hand out to the homeless. The most used vouchers are from Dome Coffee or a Target Gift Card, and you can either have them sent straight to PHSG, or purchase yourself and then post or deliver to PHSG. Moreover, as a registered charity all donations to PHSG over $2.00 are tax deductible.
Why not come as a group?
This is one movie best enjoyed in a group of like-minded devotees. Therefore, grab a few friends and book now for only $25.00 per person and enjoy this nostalgic trip to an opulent and bygone era. Furthermore, drinks and enticing treats are available from the bar, before the movie.
See the need and make a difference, without prejudice
