See historic Sydney while learning how to use your camera
Sydney Photographic Workshops run a series of hands-on, out-and-about workshops in Sydney to teach the beginner and the enthusiast how to get the most out of the digital SLR's.

Although I was initially given the night photography course as a birthday present, I opted to change it for a more introductory one, better suited to my vast lack of knowledge regarding my camera.

The course runs for four hours and is jam-packed with all the essential information you need to move from "automatic" to "manual" mode on your camera.

Using a variety of Sydney backdrops - the Harbour Bridge, the Cahill Expressway, the Rocks and Sydney Observatory - attendees are exposed to the various elements that make up a good photograph - setting focus, exposure, shutter speed and aperture settings. They also cover lots of handy settings that help with backlighting, using light and shadow and some basics around composition. Take a pen and notepad, it's impossible to remember everything they teach you.

A great way to learn a new skill while taking in some of Sydney's most historic landmarks.
