Phoenix Beer in Perth

In a little town on the island of Mauritius, one of the finest beers in the world is made. And as you could guess it gets its name from the town where it is brewed, Phoenix. The local people have been enjoying this beer for over 50 years, and now we can finally have a taste of it, right here in Perth.

There is a quote, from the Phoenix Beverages company, that says "If Mauritius were to be a beer, it would have been Phoenix and if Phoenix were to be an island it would have been, without any doubt, Mauritius". This really shows you how proud they are of their beer, and their country for that matter.

Phoenix is an award winning beer and is exported to many countries, including South Africa, United Kingdom, France and Malaysia and for a year or two now, it has been introduced to Perth.

Apparently they use malt that comes from Australia and Europe. Some of you might say that's why it's good. But Phoenix has a unique taste and really symbolises the Mauritian way of life. It is associated with every celebration in the country, their tagline proves it "Nou Pays Nou labière" which means "Our country, Our beer" or even "So delicious, So Mauritius" as they say in their advertisement.

The price in Perth is definitely not the same price as if you were buying it in Mauritius. However it is amongst the cheapest beers you can buy, and one of the best ones you could taste.

So who ever has been to Mauritius, and would love another taste of that delicious beer, it's your lucky day. For those who have never been there but simply love beer, it's your lucky day too. And for those who know some Mauritians in Perth, you know what beer to buy them.

There are two places I know of which stock Phoenix Beer; Western Cellars - Manning (Cnr Kent and Manning Rd) and the Cellarbrations Carlisle (2 Wright Street, Kewdale).

For a full listing of Australian Phoenix Beer stockists; please see here.

I suggest you wait for summer and grab a pack of Phoenix beer to enjoy around a barbecue or at home on a nice lazy Sunday afternoon. I know that's what I might do.

When I first heard the name Phoenix Beer I immediately thought of Phoenix Organics, the soda company that sells a lot of carbonated fruit drinks in Australia. I never would have guessed that it was a beer from Mauritius.

I'll have to try searching through the bottle shops in Adelaide to see if anyone here sells it. I love that clip, it really captures a great feeling, so makes me want to try the beer!

I used to live in Vietnam, so travelling around Asia I'm used to cheap beer. One of my favourites is Singha beer from Thailand, and it is the same thing. The beer is ridiculously cheap over there, and expensive over here.

I guess cheap beer just makes a good excuse to go travelling. ;)

That's great, I'm glad I'm making you want to taste it.
Don't you love the video! :)
I don't know if they sell them in Adelaide. But I'm pretty sure you can buy them online and get like a stock delivered. lol.
There's a full listing of their stock in Oz on the link.
Good Luck,
let me know if you manage to find any.
Cheers,
Jessica
