The first time I heard about Pho PhD was from a friend. The second time, my boyfriend insisted it was the "Best Pho in Sydney" and that I needed to (not should) try their Pho. So the first time I stepped into Pho PhD, Marrickville, I was filled with expectations. Expectations - which I might add - was heightened by the line of eager looking customers.

Once seated inside, I observed the surroundings. Although small, it worked well with the red decor - painting a warm "family feel" for the Vietnamese restaurant. The menu had a range of authentic Vietnamese dishes, from entrees such as Vietnamese crepe and skewed chicken to pho, rice, vermicelli/laksa, rice noodles, egg noodles, scallops, king prawns, and omelettes - just to name a few of the dishes. And that's not counting dessert.

My boyfriend and I ordered skewed chicken with peanut satay sauce (4pcs), two beef pho (Special combination) and 'three beans dessert' - a classic Vietnamese dessert. We didn't have to wait long before our food came out. The chicken skewers were awesome - the pho? Even better. Usually I prefer rice dishes, but I do not regret ordering the pho, at all. The soup was distinctive to other pho places, with a slight flavour of herbs which worked extremely well with all the sauces, and not too rich so that it verged on the point of sickening. Aromatic, and delicious.

Being an easy drive from CBD, I'm more than definite I'll be back for another round - and try out all their other dishes, as well as bring the family for a fun lunch out. I'll also be sure to check in on their Facebook with more mouth-watering pictures of my meal!
