Pho Nguyen at Churchill Shopping Centre is one of a chain of restaurants that specialises in offering the Vietnamese beef noodle soup dish, Pho. In addition to the restaurant using a family recipe for Pho that has been passed down through generations, the crockery used in the restaurant is made in Bat Trang, a village in Vietnam that is famous for its ceramic products.

Their Stir-fried Pho with Rolling Chicken & Veg puts an interesting spin on Pho, using the seasoning for Pho in a stir-fried dish. The strips of chicken were tender and the vegetables still retained some bite. The rice noodles were not too soft and the sauce gave the dish a delectable savoury taste with a hint of sweetness.

Compared to the chicken, the beef in the Stir-fried Pho with Rolling Beef & Veg had a firmer texture and the sauce had a more savoury flavour. We were able to have the noodles in our dish substituted with extra meat and vegetables. Pickled garlic, chilli sauce and fresh chilli are provided at each table as condiments. It is advised to taste the chilli and chilli sauce first as they pack a potent fiery punch.

Aside from being ordered as a main dish, the Rolling Rare Beef can also be ordered as a side dish to accompany your meal. We were delighted that the slices of beef were tender and the broth had the spiced taste that we expected. The broth was served at just the right temperature and spring onions provided extra flavour and a bit of crunch.

The Vietnamese Donut reminded us of Chinese Crullers, fried sticks of dough that can be enjoyed for breakfast or with soup. It was fried to golden-brown without being greasy and had a texture that was not too dense. The fluffy texture of the interior makes it perfect for absorbing the broth in their various Pho dishes.

The decor of the restaurant gave it a cheery feel. Its location makes it perfect for visitors to Churchill Centre desiring delicious Pho before or after they are done shopping.
