Pho and Roll is just a bit of a hole in the wall joint only a minute or two from Southern Cross. I'm on the hunt for oily and wish Pho, so it's my next stop.
It has quite an extensive menu, with Com, Vermicelli noodles, Bun, rice dishes Pho, steamed "burger" buns and rice paper rolls.
There's also Bahn Mi on the menu and I was in the mood for Pho and Bahn Mi, so I was a happy camper. Anyhow, onto the Pho. I ordered chicken Pho and was very happy upon its arrival. It had a glistening sheen of oil on top. Always a good sign of depth of flavour.
The chicken was meaty and well cooked. The broth was rich and very flavourful. The list it as no fat Pho, which it clearly wasn't, but given that the only fat was probably on the top of the broth it was certainly nothing to complain about.
I opted for the crispy roast pork Bahn Mi which when slathered with Sriracha and Hoisin sauces was top notch. The bread was very fresh and the filling was very tasty, although not very substantial. The bread could have been a bit more full bodied. I would genuinely recommend Pho and Roll as a place to grab something to eat if you're catching a train. Bahn Mi in particular is great travelling food.
They are open from 9am to 9pm daily but are closed on Sundays.
