Conveniently located just off the Warrego Highway at Marburg, halfway between Brisbane and Toowoomba, you'll find Phippsy's. As regular travelers to Toowoomba, a coffee break here has become a road trip tradition for us - and many others, it seems.
The Girls' Coffee Bar offers up some seriously good food, with meals sizes being generous and the prices very reasonable. The Girls are always friendly, despite the fact that they are usually run off their feet. Service is also prompt, allowing drivers to get back on the road after a short break. They also offer a text ahead service for coffee and food for the convenience of those who don't have time to linger.
If you are out for a leisurely trip, however, check out Stop and Smell the Roses just next door. Here you will find a nursery, gift shop and florist all rolled into one business. Reiki healing and massage treatments can also be booked - wouldn't that be great to iron out those kinks from too much time behind the wheel? Fresh flowers here are reasonably priced and if you've left it until the last minute to pick up a present for someone special the giftware range in-store will save the day for you. Also a mini nursery, at Stop and Smell the Roses right now you can do just that. A beautiful range of blooming roses brighten up the entrance to the shop and there are plenty of roses to smell! Staff here are very friendly and your fresh flowers are spritzed before you hit the road again.
Debbie Phipps has recently added a new feature to this popular pitstop - her Memory Lock Wall, which can be found at the picnic shelter. The idea here is to put a loved one's name on a lock and place it on the wall in their memory. The key to the lock is then thrown into a nearby wishing well. Whole families, friends, and pets have been added to the wall so far. Bring your own lock or, for a small outlay, purchase one from Stop and Smell the Roses. Even if you're not placing a lock on the wall yourself, check it out - it's going to be interesting to watch this collection grow!
Phippsy's is dog friendly, child friendly and wheelchair friendly. A grassed area provides a space for both the pets and kids to let off a bit of steam with a covered picnic area letting you keep an eye on them, out of the sun. A range of tourist information can also be found here. Parking is plentiful with coach and caravan parking available, making the perfect place to break your journey, whichever way you're heading on the Warrego Highway. Stop and stretch your legs, enjoy a hearty meal, a coffee or a snack and don't forget to stop and smell the roses - literally!
