Melbourne's most popular market, Queen Vic Market (QVM) is holding a Filipino party. Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy themselves and taste the food. Entry to this party is FREE and the event is hosted by Pamana Australia.
Philippines Festival will bring authentic Filipino food, family-friendly activities and entertainment to Melbourne on Sunday 24 March 2019, from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. QMV is situated on the corner of Elizabeth and Victoria Streets, Melbourne.
QVM hosts many great and cultural events and none will be more interesting than this Philippine Festival. It will be put on by the local Filipino community, so it is a genuine community event with food made by Filipinos who have been fortunate enough to come and live in our lovely state!
The festival coincides with the celebration of
Cultural Diversity Week. This event is an opportunity for the Filipino community to showcase their rich culture. It will be a unique and fun-filled festival which is sure to bring joy to all.
The theme this year is 'Celebrating Living in Victoria' and this is in keeping with what QVM means to all Victorians. QVM represents the "heart and soul" of Melbourne in regards to people and food. QVM has become the meeting hub for many people of diverse cultural backgrounds. It encourages people of different languages, religions, professions, talents, interests and age to attend and mix with others. Most major cities throughout the world have their own market life, market brand, and Melbourne has QVM!
At the event, they will be promoting Filipino culture and celebrating the cultural diversity that exists in Victoria. There will be a line-up of live music and entertainment showcasing the talents of Filipinos. The highlight of the festival will be the Ati Atihan parade where people will be all done up with their face masks and colourful and unique costumes.
You will be entertained by the best local Filipino-Australian artists performing throughout the day. You can also join the halo-halo and barbeque eating competitions. The eating competitions are for those who are game and can eat a lot! And you will also have a chance to win roundtrip tickets to the Philippines.
The food alone will be worth coming to this event for, and if you have never tasted Filipino delights, now is your chance to try this cuisine at reasonable prices. These dishes will be, as mentioned, authentic dishes and you will be able to share their delights with friends and family.
There will even be friendly travel agents for those who want to plan a trip to the Philippines (I have been there and loved it!). You will have an in-depth experience of the country and there will be plenty of raffle prizes to be won.
