A new addition to the ongoing classes is the Watercolour Classes available on alternate Wednesdays. Held from 10.30am to 1.30pm, these classes are facilitated by Maria Field and are priced $35 per class.

A self-taught artist, Maria is passionate about watercolour and her excitement and enthusiasm are contagious. She delights in creating colourful, clean watercolours with her work, encompassing many subjects, usually inspired by light/shade, colour or shape. She has won over 59 awards, including 19 firsts in the past 10 years and her works are held in private and corporate collections throughout Australia and overseas.

This class is ideal for those who would like to learn watercolour or improve their current skills in this exciting and beautiful medium. Under the guidance of Maria, students will learn the cause and effect of watercolour techniques, focal points, how to mix darks, control paint and edges and how to avoid and fix common problems.

As the classes progress students will receive a better understanding of composition, design, creating light, mood and tone, and how to plan a painting and interpret photos.

More advanced students will be encouraged to work on their own projects, with advice given on different styles, ideas to improve techniques, extend their artistic journey, variation, tonal patterns, other mediums, framing and impact in their paintings.

For samples of Maria's work or student's comments see this website.

Classes will held alternate Wednesdays from 4th Feb 2015.
