Petite Pieces, one of Aspire Gallery's most popular annual exhibitions, returns this February bigger and better than ever, with a record number of entries from interstate artists!
Opening on Wednesday 7th of February, 2018, for just over a fortnight, Petite Pieces showcases over 200 amazing artworks by 100 talented artists.
It is a unique open theme, open medium and open skill level competition, with the only restriction being that each work must fit within 40 x 40 x 40cm.
The possibilities are endless and artists from all over the country are encouraged to explore and experiment with their skills to discover what they are capable of.
The result is a truly diverse collection of beautiful artworks that are full of personality and character, which are sure to inspire, fascinate and intrigue visitors.
The showcase includes everything from traditional oil & watercolours to ceramic wares and creative jewellery pieces and even small intricate woodworks and minuscule sculptures.
Each participating artist is competing to win the Judges' Choice Prize - a solo exhibition at Aspire Gallery. Previous years' winners include street scene artist Michael Cawdrey, ceramic artist Judy Hamilton and landscape artist Max Butler. There will also be a range of Local Business prizes on offer as well and the public gets a say in awarding one artist the lucky Voters' Choice prize - with voting open throughout the exhibition.
For the past three years, Aspire Gallery has found this competition to be not only a public favourite, but also something regular artists look forward to for 12 months.
Every year, the judges have found it difficult to choose a winner due to the variety and skill on show. This year is proving no different. "I am very excited about the work submitted this year! We have a range of artists who are new, which really shows you how much unknown talent is out there", Aspire Gallery's director, Donagh Mengel said.
The Petite Pieces exhibition at Aspire Gallery in Paddington will run from 7th to 28th February 2018, Wednesday to Saturday, 10.30am to 4.30pm Entry is FREE and all are welcome. Click here to find out more and preview some of the artworks.
