There are two types of tourists - those who get up early to cram in as much sight-seeing as possible, and those who prefer to laze around and relax. Pethers Rainforest Retreat offers something for both. Nestled cosily in the Mount Tamborine hinterlands, Pethers is within walking distance of shops, cafes and bars, and a short drive from many quaint and fun attractions in the Scenic Rim region. But the 'rainforest' in Rainforest Retreat isn't marketing copy.

Pethers is a luxury retreat offering villa style accommodation against an ancient rainforest backdrop. All rooms include a fireplace, spa bath, air conditioning and king size bed, while floor to ceiling windows and a picturesque balcony offer stunning views of the forest outside.

There's something to satisfy the proactive and the lazy here. While the spa, fireplace and cosy couches are perfect for lazing, Pethers offers a selection of onsite amenities. Order a house call from a qualified masseuse or therapist to enjoy a massage or facial. These treatments can be performed inside or outside on the balcony, and couples treatments are available as well.

The appropriately named Main Lodge is an airy hall with high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows, offering amazing light and incredible views. The hall can be hired for weddings, birthdays and other celebrations, and is open to Pethers guests. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, the restaurant serves seasonal, local produce and an extensive selection of wines.

Mt Tambourine and surrounds also have a variety of experiences to offer. For something active and exciting try a skywalk or a trip to the Adventure Parc, while lazier readers can eat and drink their way through town.
