I have seen Disney's first Pete's Dragon and was concerned on whether they could improve on it. It is a given that we have evolved in regards to technology, however I was concerned that the magical essence would be lost in 'translation'.

Pete's Dragon is about a boy, named Pete, who loses his family in a car crash on a road that stretches through a forest. Being the only survivor, Pete (Oakes Fergley) is suddenly faced by a pack of wolves when Elliot, the Dragon, shows up to save him. Six years later, Elliot notices a woman (Bryce Dallas Howard) walking through the forest. This is the beginning of an avalanche of events.

I was presently surprised to find this movie somewhat better than the first. With a gripping story-line, amazing CGI and perfectly selected music, I found myself emotionally drawn into every aspect of the movie.

With a star-studded cast which includes Robert Redford, Bryce Dallas Howard, Karl Urban, and Oakes Fergley, this is one movie that will definitely be worth the investment for the whole family.

Pete's Dragon is rated PG. There is some mild violence when the town hunt the dragon and Pete hits his head, however, apart from that, this is a good heart warming movie.
