Located on the shore at San Souci, Peter Depena Reserve is a great place for a fun family day out. The extensive playground area offers a giant climbing web, coloured hopping stones, slides, swings, a spinning wheel and even a boat.
A duel pedestrian and bike path winds through the park on the edge of the sand, looking out over the calm blue waters of Botany Bay. When the kids want a rest from the playground, they can dig in the sand or kick a ball on the extensive grass area that stretches beyond The Georges River Sailing Club, all the way around to the point. Summer sees many kicking off their shoes for a paddle or even a swim in the nearby netted swimming area.
Picnic tables are available, as are free electric barbecues, and there is even a large pavilion for parties. The covered pavilion is very popular for large groups, who get there early to set up the many tables with tablecloths over flowing with food and hang balloons and decorations for birthday parties and family celebrations.
For those who want to grab a coffee, an icecream or a light lunch, a cafe sits on the fringe of the park near the parking area. The sailing club on the other side also offers a lunch menu as well as full bar facilities.
There are public toilets within the park, including those for the disabled, and both on and off street parking is available.
