Julia Creek is proudly situated on the Overlander's Way, the main travelling route from Townsville that runs all the way to Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory. Located approximately 650km west of Townsville and 250km east of Mt Isa. Julia Creek earned the tagline 'Gateway to the Gulf' with the sealing of the road north to Normanton in the 1960s.



Julia Creek is a small town with a huge heart. Widely lauded as a complete surprise package for travellers, including an impressive playground as a stop pit for you and your family while travelling past Julia Creek.





Located at Peter Dawes Park, 37 Burke Street Julia Creek, this playground offers fun play equipment in bright colours.





There is a play equipment area for little children with a low-set slippery dip, swinging bridge and climbing frame. There is also a musical instrument section of the playground with bongo drums, something that looks like a xylophone and dome-liked metal that is stacked together and makes an interesting sound when you bang them. There is a fire engine on springs that wobble a lot when you try to drive it.



For bigger children, there is an equipment area with a higher slippery dip and spider web climbing net. There is also a flying fox.



They used artificial green grass in the little children's area, while a soft fall mat is being used for the bigger children's area. Between the artificial green grass and soft fall mat, there is a swing set.



The playground area is all fenced to ensure the safety of children playing here.



In the playground area, there are some benches. Beside the playground, there is a picnic table with free gas BBQ, tap and hand basin to wash up before and after cooking or before having a picnic. Amenities block also can be found not far from the playground area.



Stretch a leg and have fun at this playground before you hit the road again.
