Petaling st is another chain of Malaysian restaurants in Melbourne. They sell the same stuff as the Straits of Malacca and are very popular, but the one that I went to in Chinatown, in Melbourne's CBD, wasn't as good as I had hoped.

I went with a friend back in December. It was big, but very empty at the time of visit, which was 6pm on a Friday night. At the time, the Chinatown markets were on.

I had been to another Petaling Street in the city (that was before Straits of Malacca appeared) and that was really good, hence my expectations were high. The place was dirty. I checked out the bathrooms and they were not clean.

Our food too was pretty bad. I had food poisoning from eating here. We ordered Char Kuey Teow, Nasi Goreng and Roti. The Roti was too thick for our liking and the Nasi Goreng was more like fried rice and lacked the spiciness to it. The Char Kuey Teow was just okay.

The Roti came with chicken curry, which was really messy. The curry was watered down, which I hated

My iced tea was lukewarm.

I could go on and on, but in one sentence; save yourself the trouble - there are other better Malaysian places around.
