If you go down to the
Inglewood on Beaufort night markets on Monday, February 26, you might come across some critters you've never met before.
Organisers of the markets are inviting pet owners to register their animals for a pet parade and are calling for well-behaved pets of all kinds, rats and cats, dogs, snakes, goats or even stick insects, to come along and show off their animals.
Prizes including a $100 voucher to spend at the
Bedford-Dianella Vet Centre , a
Wendy Binks Pet Portrait and a
Treat Truck Voucher will be up for grabs for the top pets.
Hosting the pet show, which starts at 6.30pm will be Inglewood on Beaufort patron Vince Garreffa and former House Rules contestant Carole Bramston.
Judges will be former
My Kitchen Rules contestants Kelly Steele and Emma Donnnelly, and Bedford-Dianella Vet Centre vet and former
Amazing Race Australia contestant Sally Yamamoto-Smith.
The event will be at the Inglewood Library Forecourt with money raised from the evening going to Lifeline.
Pet lover Jane Lovell, who performs burlesque as Miss Obscene around Perth nightclubs, says she is coming across more and more people with unusual pets.
She says while they don't provide the affection of a cat or a dog, the snakes, lizards and stick insects she shares her Armadale home with, aren't demanding when it comes to love and attention.
Water, heat and an occasional feed and they're happy.
