Trying to green-up your garden? Why not put some zoo poo on it.

Perth Zoo reduces the waste it creates by composting animal and plant waste.

Once going through the composting process the Creature Compost is either used on the gardens and vegetation in the zoo's animal enclosures or bagged and sold for home gardens.

About 800 cubic metres of animal and plant waste is removed for composting from Perth Zoo each year.

Creature Compost is sold in 10 and 25 litre bags ($9.95 and $14.95) or by the trailer load ($64).

It should be used on a 1:1 ratio with your soil or half of that amount if using on native plants.

Creature Compost is a joint project between the Zoo and Nutrarich.

It's easy to get your hands on Creature Compost- the bags are delivered free of charge and trailer loads can be picked up from Swan Valley Landscape Supplies.

More information can be found on the Nutrarich website.
