The Perth Writer's Festival returns in 2016, bringing with it writers, artists, activists and campaigners from around the world.

A jam packed program will cover everything from humour, biography, travel, politics, fiction, non-fiction, pop-culture and social issues.



Roman Krznaric who is described as a "cultural thinker" will open the event on February 18.

The empathy expert founded the Empathy Museum and wrote a book aptly called Empathy.

The rest of the festival events will follow on at the University of Western Australia from February 19 to 21 and is part of the larger Perth International Arts Festival .



There will be numerous talks, debates, book launches, workshops, readings and panel events.

Richard Dawkins will talk science, religion and culture as part of the festival but anyone who has not already bought a ticket is too late, the professor's event has proven so popular it has already sold out.

The festival's family fun day will be held on Sunday February 21 and a number of free events will be held across the festival weekend.
