Following from its popularity from the 2014 event, 2015 welcomes back the
Perth Science Festival, returning on the weekend of
Saturday 15th August and Sunday 16th August. Running from
10am to 5pm on Saturday and
11am to 4pm on Sunday, the event will take place at the
Perth Cultural Centre in Northbridge and bring two whole days of science fun and discoveries.
This interesting and unique annual festival is in its 3rd year and marks the launch of National Science Week in Western Australia, celebrating a combination of science, art, innovation and technology. Previous years' festivals proved successful, and the popularity of the event resulted in nearly 10,000 people engaging with interactive, hands-on science activities, shows and everyone's favourite school memory - experiments and explosions!
Immerse yourself in the experience and learn fascinating and mindblowing science oddities and facts whilst experiencing food and drink from over 50 stalls, food trucks and a licensed bar over the weekend. Browse through local vendors, such as Einstein's Top Secret Science, enjoy free tastings, discover green screen photos, learn about science topics such as 3D printing and light discoveries and be entertained by science performances, presentations and shows from Scitech and many more.
The festival continues with music, film, quirky culinary science and food shows, question and answer sessions with local scientists and other special guests, circus performers, lego robots, roaming entertainment and an animal farm complete with cuddly animals and reptiles.
The festival is set to run across the entire weekend, with a free ages 18 and over event,
Gastronomical, taking place on Saturday evening from
6:30pm to 10:30pm. This features alcoholic goodness, delicious food and even a beer and wine fashion show - complete with a dress made out of beer!
For further information about this engaging and educationally stimulating event, follow the Perth Science Festival
Facebook page, check out the Gastronomical
Facebook event page and catch up with all things science related at the National Science Week
website .
By the way, the fascinating reaction between light and beer is that a compound found in skunk glands will be produced as a result - it will be handy to pick up useful science facts and tips like these!
