returns for its third year for an AFL game to end all AFL games.

The Reclink Community Cup is a an Aussie Rules charity match that pits musicians against media. It is now held annually across Australia and this is the third year in Western Australia.

You will be able to see the NEWHOUNDS, community media, versus the BANDGROPERS, who are WA musicians, and this year Bandgropers will be trying to make it three in a row while the Newshounds are still desperately searching for their first win.

Not all the action will be on the field however as some of Perth's best bands will be providing entertainment throughout the day:

  • End Of Fashion
  • The Floors and The Brow
  • Plus DJ's
  • Live commentary.

  • It will be played at the grounds of Fremantle Oval on Sunday, 3rd September, 2017, and the bands will be before the game, at half time and post.

The Reclink Community Cup had a small beginning in a very successful event in Melbourne, and due to the Community Cups' popularity, is now being staged throughout Australia.

Local community radio stations and local media in each state will be joining together to go head-to-head with local musicians in what can be termed as a family friendly entertaining day of classic football together with live music both on and off the field.

"We are delighted to once again work with our talented Organising Committees across Australia to bring the Reclink Community Cup to the streets of your town. This year's theme is all about community, the importance of social inclusion, celebrating diversity and community belonging. We are reminded that the streets of your town are the streets of our town." said John Ballis, CEO, Reclink Australia.

    [b]SPONSORS**
This year there is a new national event sponsor - Blundstone Australia, who are delighted to be involved as a national partner.

Adam Blake, the global head of Blundstone - Brand, Design and Community Engagement, advises that they are excited to start the national tour, and want to wish all the teams the best with their training,

    [b]TEAMS**
The teams are made up of fearless Perth musicians who are aptly named Bandgropers, and this team will be coached by founding Fremantle Dockers Captain, Ben Allen.

It will feature members of Dream Rimmy:
  • Eskimo Joe
  • Sugar Army
  • POW Negro
  • Koi Child

  • Playing against them will be community media and music industry types, The Newshounds, and this team will include:

  • West Australian Treasurer, Ben Wyatt
  • Fremantle Mayor Dr Brad Petit

  • Their coach will be Clint Wheeldon from ABC Grandstand.

The game is a fun match, and is partly serious and should be hilarious as they go up and down Fremantle Oval.
