Roses are red, violets are bue, festivals are great fun and poetry is too. Don't worry, that is the worst poem that you are going to hear at the Perth Poetry Festival . Poetry can be tricky and it doesn't even have to rhyme. There are all sorts of different poems and they can all be emotional and very moving.



Poetry is an important part of literature and life. Some poets are incredible and can move you to tears with only a few lines. Every poet and every writer has their own process. If you are a poet or if you just love listening to poems, then if you head to the Moon Cafe in Perth, you will be in for a treat.

At this festival, there will be some of Australia and New Zealand's best poets. This includes Freya Daly Sadgrove, Peter Boyle, Tamryn Bennett, Amy Lin, Barbara Temperton, Maree Dawes, Scott-Patrick Mitchell and Colin Young. If you think you can perform your own work, there will also be an open mic session. Why not write something special just for the festival?

To take part in any way in this festival, entry by donation. There is food and drink available during the festival. There is a limited time to take part or watch the poets doing their best. This festival is only on between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday October 1st. If you can't make it, then you can still participate. Don't worry, they have thought of everything. There is even a Zoom link, so you can join in from the comfort of your own home.
