Star Wars Day

This May the fourth, at 7.00pm, celebrate International (or should that be Intergalactic) Star Wars Day at the Perth Observatory in Bickley.

Don your best intergalactic outfit, break out your blasters and lightsabers, and come along to the observatory to see the spectacular night sky to celebrate. It will be a dark, moonless night, all the better for the telescope operators to show you planets, stars and nebulas.

There will be prizes for the best adult and child costumes and, there may be a Star Wars character there too!

Perth Observatory

The heritage-listed observatory is Western Australia's oldest observatory and it continues to play a role in public education by conducting day tours for school groups and night tours for the public.

Did you know that the Perth Observatory:
  • co-discovered Uranus' ring system;
  • has discovered 30 supernovae; and
  • has discovered 29 minor planets between 1970 and 1999?
  • (information from the Observatory's website).
