Genevieve Wood is an experienced flute teacher, who has played the flute since the age of nine.

She is an inaugural member of the WAYO Flute Choir, who has choral experience through the WASO Chorus and is currently completing a Certificate Teacher of Music Australia (CTMusA) through the Australian Music Examinations Board syllabus.

From her home in Gwelup, Genevieve offers a variety of individual and group flute lessons for ages five and up. In the past, Genevieve has taught a range of students with different skills and constraints, including adult beginners and students with identified reading disorders such as dyslexia.

Her lessons can also be catered to the respective student's needs; whether it be for general development, school exams, and/or to sit for Australian Music Examination Board exams (up to and including AMEB Level 7).

One of Genevieve's key goals is to help students develop a relaxed, confident approach to flute playing. She will also inspect your flute, or a flute you are considering buying, to check its condition and give you advice on whether it is suitable for the respective student.

Genevieve's first lesson is free, with no obligation to continue; this will give the potential student an idea of her teaching style and approach. The normal individual rate is $25 for a 1/2 hour lesson and $45 for 1 hour lesson. The ensemble rate is $15 for 1/2 hour per student or $25 for 1 hour per student.

The lessons take place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 4pm.

A limited selection of flutes, including hook flutes and Nuvo flutes, both designed for very small beginners are also available for hire. The fee is $25 per month, which includes music stand, flute and case, and electronic metronome.

The lessons generally follow a school term pattern, but Genevieve is happy to continue offering lessons during school breaks or to help students/s prepare for exams and presentations throughout the year. Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons as well.

Genevieve is also available to perform for corporate or personal events such as engagements and weddings.
