Firstly - the ideal location. Gordon Street Garage performed as the perfect back-drop for the very first Perth Flower Social – a stunning flower crown workshop.
The long table was decorated in beautiful blooms, with watering cans and vases packed to the brim! We were welcomed with a glass of bubbles from Will's Domain, which went down nicely as we were introduced to the team and they talked us through all our pieces of equipment - flower scissors, wire, tape and of course, flowers.
We were encouraged to select from a vast number of greens, blooms and filler foliage to suit our tastes and then we were ready to begin. During the session, we were offered handy tips and advice on flower crown making, plus a delicious selection of entrees. The nibbles were small, but packed with flavour, and made the perfect accompaniment to the afternoon. We could also select from a range of hot drinks towards the end of the session, and finished off the day with a sweet treat of caramel slice.
Kerryn, the owner and founder of Sydney Flower Social really makes the business all that more special, her timid nature, yet incredible floristry knowledge and enthusiasm is wonderful to see. She clearly has a passion for her business and goes the extra mile to please her customers. She was happy to give input into other floral questions at the end of the workshop and made everyone feel welcome.
All-in-all, a beautiful afternoon that I would highly recommend. A therapeutic few hours of crafty fun, ideal for a special occasion or simply learning a new skill.
Originally, the Sydney Flower Social, but they will soon be taking over the Perth scene, with pop-up events and organised sessions run with the expertise of Kerry and the help from her sister and friend, so make sure to watch this space!
