Perth's iconic racing event makes a return to New Year's Day
What better way to bring in 2018 than with one of Perth's favourite New Year's traditions? It's Perth Cup, of course!
After a two year hiatus from its traditional timeslot of New Year's Day, Perth Cup returns on Monday, 1 January 2018 at Ascot Racecourse for a fun-filled day of frocks, fillies, flutters and flutes (of the champagne kind.)
Welcome 2018 by partying with the masses or watching all the day's racing action in style – there are a number of ways to watch the Group Two $500,000 Perth Cup, including The Ascot Sky Villa, Picnic at Perth Cup, 1900 Bar, Enclosure on the Deck, Terrace Restaurant and general admission. You can see what's included in each package here.
Tickets start from $30 for general admission ($20 for concession holders) while tickets to the most exclusive vantage point, the Ascot Sky Villa, will set you back $350 each.
Perth Cup is part of the 2017 Ascot Racing Carnival, which also includes major events such as Opening Day on Saturday, 21 October, Irish Day on Saturday, 28 October and Melbourne Cup on Tuesday, 7 November. You can view the full calendar here.
Wear your best frock, fascinator or hat and enjoy a bite to eat and glass of bubbles in the sunshine while soaking up the exciting race atmosphere. After the last race, WA band San Cisco will keep the party going.
The New Year's Day Perth Cup tradition is back. Do yourself a favour and give New Year's Eve a miss and head to Ascot instead – you won't regret it!
