Dedicated to all things amber ale
Western Australia is a state of craft beer fanatics. We just can't get enough of our pales, brights, wheats, darks, English, stouts and organic, low carb, American sunset ale with a hint of clove and banana. For this reason, Perth has so many festivals dedicated to the art of the amber ale, including the Perth Craft Beer Festival from Friday, 4th November to Sunday, 6th November.
Taking place at the gorgeous Urban Orchard in Northbridge, this festival celebrates all things beer, with 150 local and international craft beers and ciders to try.
It's a craft beer lover's dream, with local brewers Gage Roads, Little Creatures, Cheeky Monkey and Feral Brewing joining interstate brewers Stone and Wood, 4 Pines, White Rabbit, Mountain Goat and Pirate Life at the festival. For the true beer nerds among us, Spearwood locals Innate Brewers may give you an insight into zymurgy, the art and science of brewing with yeast. Who knew it had a name. There will also be opportunities to sample international flavours from the Brooklyn Brewery in New York.
If you're not into beer – that's ok. You can choose from a range of wine and non-alcoholic beverages. There will also be plenty of locally produced food available and even a range of gluten free menu items. Some of the names providing eats on the day include Old Faithful Bar and BBQ, Five Bar and Wok Street Chow House.
The Friday and Saturday evening sessions are adults only events and will run from 4pm to 11pm on Friday and 5:30pm to 11:30pm on Saturday. There are family friendly sessions running from 11:30am to 5pm and on Sunday from 12pm to 7pm and children under 12 are free to enter. The festival promises a heap of live music, entertainment and interactive activities for the whole family.

Tickets start from $25 for a single session of your choice, which includes your own craft beer glass – which you will need on the day. You can also buy a pass to all of the sessions for $80 if you want to keep coming back for more. There's also an option for guests to purchase a currency card, which you can top up during the day instead of carrying cash. Any unused funds are credited back to you. Tickets are available from the website.
If you just can't get enough of local, interstate and international craft beer, then this is one Perth festival not to be missed.
