Santa Claus is coming to town
The Perth Christmas Pageant is one of the most popular events in Perth, bringing families from far and wide to be part of the Christmas magic and to catch a glimpse of Santa. The ever-popular Channel Seven Christmas Pageant will be held this year on Saturday, 15th December, 2012.
The Perth Christmas Pageant is one of the largest and most popular Christmas events in Australia. The streets of Perth come alive with colour and Christmas magic as the pageant moves along.
Featuring a dazzling array of light covered floats, dancers, bands, clowns and performers - not to mention the ever-popular Fat Cat.
Thousands of people turn out and line the streets of Perth each year and this year will be no different. This annual event, loved by young and old, has been moved back to the evening time slot and will start at 7.30pm.
There will be new floats and old favourites, Christmas lights, music dancing and much, much more. Of course the highlight of the evening is seeing Santa arrive on his Sleigh.
The Christmas pageant will start on St Georges Terrace and finish at Langley Park. This year, there will be a free Christmas mini-carnival in Forrest Place from 3pm to 7pm. The mini-carnival will have loads of fun activities, rides and entertainment for the whole family.
If you plan on driving into the city on the 15th December, it's a good idea to check which roads will be closed during the pageant. The city is easily accessible by public transport but dont forget to check out the timetables.
Check out the City of Perth website for further details including times and pageant route.
I went his year for the first time and won't be going again. The crowd lined the streets at least 20 people back so you couldn't see a thing. There was no markets or rides, the only thing put on was the street pageant. Poorly planned and only viewable to those who pushed their way to the front.
