Event: -
One of the biggest and best free Christmas events in Perth
Seen by many as the jewel in the crown of all the free Christmas activities on offer in Perth, this is one popular event that you'll not want to miss. Come and mingle with the magic and watch as float upon float travel past you celebrating all that is special about Christmas. You can look forward to dazzling floats featuring TV personalities including Telethon's Fat Cat, Christmas characters, clowns, dancers and not least the crowd favourite, Santa and his reindeers. This is the Christmas event in Perth not to be missed especially if you've got kids in your party with you who'll order seeing some of their favourite TV characters brought to life in float style.

Date: Saturday 7 December 2013
Time: Pre-Pageant entertainment starts from 6pm with the actual pageant commencing at 7.30pm
Location and Route: St George Terrace, Perth - starting from the corner of Mill St and finishing at the corner of Victoria Avenue.
Duration: The Pageant itself will take about an hour (past any point)

Top Tips:

- Arrive early to get a spot for your family, especially if you have little ones (at popular points on the route the crowd can get over 10 persons deep and viewing from the back is a little difficult).

- If the weather is warm, take plenty of water with you as once you have taken your spot, you might not want to lose your space to get refreshments.

- If you've got little kids with you a well timed toilet break prior to the pageant start time will mean that you don't miss out on the fun of the floats to take an emergency comfort break.

- A number of roads are closed for the event and if you plan on driving into Perth it is worthwhile checking here to see if your route is affected.

As this year's pageant follows on from last year's move to the (cooler) evening spots, don't forget to bring your glow sticks and other flashing light accessories, so that you can really feel part of the action.

Also very unhappy, we had a similar experience. Got there early and got a good spot, then people pushed in front blocking kids views at the start and basically told us to *uck off when we asked them politely to sit/move.

The shortened route from 2.2km to 1.1km meant twice the density of people and a LOT of argey bargey. Not going again, too stressful.

Perth Christmas Pageant 2013 was too crowded and full of jerks!
Not only did we have to put up with enormous crowds of people pushing and shoving we had to put up with the usual selfish jerks that Perth has become famous for. Two such JERKs waited until the “entertainment” started and then decided to stand up in the front blocking the view for at least 20 children sitting behind them. They stood up the entire parade even when people asked them again and again to sit down. These two guys thought it was funny to swear and carry on the whole way through the pageant.

That's terrible to hear. We didn't go this year as we've got a new baby but hearing that the shorter route caused massive queues and made viewing really difficult. Hoping they take this feedback on board.
