Good food and tasty shisha
[ADVERT]Having never sampled Persian food before, I was as excited as a pig in you-know-what when I first noticed this place had opened.
Located at the very beginning of Burwood Highway, this small, unassuming family restaurant has food that really packs a punch.
Upon entry you will notice the perfectly symmetrical decor and hookahs. Rugs and paintings adorn the walls and a smell fills the air and makes you begin to salivate.
At first glance the food looks like fairly standard, almost Indian fare. There are a lot of curries and the like, but once your food actually arrives you realise that although similar in name, this blend of Middle Eastern food is vastly different.
I ordered the lamb tikka. What was brought out to me was a buttery, tender backstrap marinated in ginger and garlic. Even something as simple an accompaniment as rice was more delicious than it had any right to be. Ravenously is the word that closely resembled just how fast it was eaten.
My partner had the lamb curry, which was an interestingly sweet and intricately spiced dish. He seemed happy with the naan as well. The portions were generous, and the prices fantastic.
To top off the meal, we opted to sample the watermelon shisha. For those unaware, shisha is a type of flavoured tobacco smoked using a hookah. It was a fantastic (and delicious) way to end the meal.
Persian Delight makes a most welcome addition to the Burwood restaurant scene. I truly hope these guys stick around, as this will most certainly become many a locals go-to restaurant.
Open from 10:30 am - 10:30pm 7 days a week. I highly recommend you give these guys a try.
