In sleepy little Clayton Bay, between Milang and Goolwa on the lower reaches of the Murray River, you'll find an art exhibition at the Community Hall on August 18-19 and 25-26.

Clayton Bay has a long tradition of local artists mounting exhibitions as part of the statewide SALA Festival reflecting the community's custom of attracting established artists and nurturing emerging ones.

'Perhaps it's the Water' is part of the uniquely South Australian Living Artists Festival (SALA). After last year's successful inaugural show, Clayton Bay Community Association is once again hosting an exhibition which references the waterway that the town encompasses and impacts the lives and wellbeing of locals and visitors.

The 'Perhaps it's the Water' event promotes and displays artworks produced from within the Clayton Bay community of permanent and weekender residents.

Works include basket weaving, painting, drawing, mosaics, metalwork, glasswork, ceramics, fabric arts, jewellery and ingenious reimaginings of found objects, and are available for sale.

Some exhibitors will be running demonstrations of their techniques during the exhibition and visitors will have an opportunity to try their hand at some for themselves.

Join the artists and locals for the official opening by Mayor Keith Parkes, at 12 noon, on Saturday 18 August at the Clayton Bay Community Hall with special guests 'Heaven Knows'. Wine and finger food will be available.

The exhibition will run from 10am-4pm on 18-19 and 25-26 August.

Tea and coffee, cakes, homemade soup and crusty bread will be for sale throughout the event.

If you've got a bit of time, stop and have a coffee at Sails on Island View Drive, or wander down to the shelter shed which has recently been decorated by the community and local artists with mosaics.
