Sharing a little slice of heaven, that is the Sunshine Coast
Published November 12th 2012
Get your goove on by the beach, music, fun, sunshine
The sunshine Coast has many beautiful beaches stretching up and down the coast and who doesn't want to spend a day lazing around in the sunshine and taking it all in?

What if there was the perfect way to round off a day at the beach that left you with more than just the fond memory of white sand between your toes, the sound of crashing waves against the shore and the smell of sunscreen and a BBQ lunch... What if there was a way to complete the day by getting your groove on at an open air concert and celebrating the end of your ideal Sunday?

The view of the dance area from the bands perspective

Peregian offers all this in the one spot on the first and third Sunday of every month (weather permitting) with the markets in the morning followed by Peregian Originals from 1pm through till 5pm. This amalgamation of markets, beach, music, food and good vibes takes place in Peregian Beach Park, between the Surf Club and the beach and is uniquely a community supported event.

Everyone, of all ages loves getting involved!

This concert is an all creatures great and small friendly event and the idea is to encourage exactly that. The whole family is welcome, the more the merrier! (dogs on leads included). The beautiful aspect to this musical celebration is that it comprises a number of different acts over the course of 4 hrs, playing mostly original music.

The performers who play here are extremely passionate about not only the event itself, but the opportunity to share their talents with an array of people who are all there for the same reason, for the love of it. This overall feeling of passion, appreciation and love of music definitely oozes from every corner of this diverse open air event. It's a great way to discover new music and support some of the local acts that play here as well. The sense of community is profound, the atmosphere is electric and the music really brings everyone together. You can't fight it, when the dance area comes alive the only option is to surrender and join in.

The kids get into it with their dancing feet..

Peregian Originals is a free event, however being community supported, it relies on the generosity of its goers and so all donations are graciously accepted and very welcomed. You can also support the event by buying raffle tickets and what better way to do so when there's a chance to win one of many great prizes put up by local businesses? The main attraction of Peregian Originals as a great day out for people of all ages, is that it can be as inexpensive as you want to make it. Bring a picnic rug, something to munch on and drink if you so desire or indulge in a burger or sausage in bread freshly prepared in the canteen under the surf club.

There are shade tents provided and great shady trees to set up under; however it's a great idea to get there early if you want to take advantage of these facilities. Car parks can also become limited so car pooling is a great idea to help reduce the need to find numerous spaces.

Loads of shady places to get comfortable and take it all in

Over all this one of a kind, musical affair is the perfect way to let those dancing feet loose and wind down your weekend in an inclusive, safe and happy environment.
