I'm a 22 year old Communications Graduate based in Brisbane ready to divulge all the wonderful things our sunny city has to offer!

As a self proclaimed Mexican food fanatic, it has been a long time hobby of mine to try out as many Mexican restaurants as I possibly can across the Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast region. Tacos, nachos, quesadilla – you name it, I will devour it.

In my opinion, a good Mexican Restaurant needs to encompass four very important elements.

1) A large range of delicious Mexican dishes that are reasonably priced.
2) An impressive well stocked bar stocked where you will find Tequila, Margaritas, and other mexican themed drinks to accompany your meal.
3) A colourful, vibrant atmosphere and setting.
4) Bubby, professional staff who leave a lasting impression.

Pepe's Mexican, a dainty little restaurant located at 184 Enoggera Road, Newmarket ticks all of these boxes! From the minute you step inside, it's as if you are being welcomed into someone's delicious smelling home.

Dim lighting, warm colours and beautiful dιcor, the restaurant has a wonderful combination of intimate tables for two tucked away for privacy and romantic meals and larger tables designed for birthdays, groups and families.

Pepes also has a huge bar, titled the Tequila Bar in bright red signage, for those like myself who enjoy cheeky cocktails and Mexican beers with their meals. It also boats Queensland's largest range of boutique tequila.

The menu range is extensive. From assorted dips and corn chips, to chilli fries and Mexican hot dogs, to burritos and nachos – Pepes has it all. The meals are huge as well – there is nothing better than eating out and finding the restaurant is generous with their servings. It's a particularly pleasant surprise considering the great value Pepes provides.

On this particular night, I ordered a frozen strawberry Margarita from the Bar, a guacamole dip to be shared as an entre with my girlfriend, and chicken nachos with sour cream for my main. The food was superb – and I have tried a lot of Mexican in my time.

To top it off, the staff were chatty and full of personality – and the service was timely and efficient. We left the restaurant full and satisfied, smiles on our faces and already planning ahead for my next visit!

If you are after an authentic Mexican Experience than look no further! Pepes is open 4pm – late Mondays, and 11am – late the rest of the week. I definitely recommend ringing ahead to book a table.
