What botany, sculptures and pork rolls have in common

Looking for some quirky décor to jazz up your crib? Or some funky jewellery to adorn miscellaneous body parts? Perhaps you find yourself with a lazy weekend ahead and not much to do other than eat and sleep. Whatever the reason, the People's Market is definitely worth a look. Located in the centre of 'Hipster-ville', Collingwood, there is ample parking out the front and is, of course, reachable by public transport too.

Stalls offer striking sterling silver jewellery, cute shirts and dresses; but also cushions, wall clocks, plants and candles….in conical flasks. Take a walk up a set of stairs to a makeshift art gallery and check out the artwork on offer. From glittery skulls to watercolour cats with antlers – this small selection is sure to awaken the desire for a piece of art to spice up your walls back home. Plus the selection rotates monthly so you will always have fresh talent to choose from. At the same time you can rest assured you are supporting local talent.

Feeling peckish? Why not sample some baked goods, pork rolls, chicken burgers or popcorn chicken? Thirsty? Have the bar staff crack open a coconut for you and sip away. Or perhaps you are after something more festive, take your pick and have the bar staff attend to your needs.

The whole space is essentially a bunch of shipping containers stuck together creating a very cool vibe. So let your lazy afternoon meander into a more lively evening and stay for the live music on offer.

Whatever your needs, the People's Market has got your back. And they are always mixing it up to give new local talent a chance. This means you'll never be bored. Go on, Check it out. For a small place, they manage to capture Melbourne's eclectic spirit beautifully.
