Pentridge Prison once housed some of Australia's most notorious criminals, including Ned Kelly, Squizzy Taylor, Chopper Reed and Gregory David Roberts, but since its closure in 1997, Pentridge has become infamous for an entirely different reason; high levels of paranormal activity.
The award-winning Lantern Ghost Tours is hosting a series of Pentridge Prison Ghost Tours from December 15th, 2013, which allow Melburnians to walk in the footsteps of some of Australia's hardest and longest serving prisoners. Historical records refer to 44 bodies which were once buried within the walls of Pentridge Prison, making it a popular site for 'ghosts hunters'.
Alongside actors in character, tour participants will discover the many secrets of Pentridge Prison D Division, which housed remand prisons. Tour participants will view the remains of Ned Kelly, experience the final moments of Ronald Ryan, the last man to be executed in Australia and will also come across many significant historical records.
This adults only tour is perfect for those with an interest in Australia's criminal history, as well as ghost hunting. Lantern Ghost Tours is regarded as one of the best ghost tour companies in Australia and will running their unique Pentridge Prison Ghost Tour every Thursday and Sunday at 8.30pm and 10.30pm.
