If you're ever after a great venue either for some after work drinks or over the weekend, then I suggest head to the Penny Black.

Located on Sydney Road, The Penny Black has just about everything to offer. Feel like a dance? Head outside to the beer garden, where the DJ will get you moving. Want to watch an unknown band? Front room has that covered. Don't want to miss out on the footy? Well, there's a room in the middle that's got the game playing on a T.V.

There are two excellent things about the Penny Black that you tend to not get when you go to a club in the city. One: there's no overpriced cover charge, it's free! Two: there's no pretentious dress code. So you can rock out in your cowboy gear for all they care. (I'm being serious on that one, there was a guy there last Saturday in full cowboy costume, leather chaps and all. He kept walking past us saying, "Howdy"- it got old quick.)

The venue as a whole feels very alive. The music outside is at a perfect level where you can hear the song and still have a conversation. But it's not so quiet that the guy you're standing across from can hear you talking about how cute they are, so no stress there.

Not only is the Penny Black a pretty sweet place to hang out with your mates, but they've got a killer menu on offer. I can tell you now that their pizzas are delicious.

So when you feel like a night out and can't be bothered with the city, give the Penny Black a try, but be sure to get there early the line is always massive.
