Following their last exhibition earlier this month, the PWG are doing it again next year from 18-23 January 2018 at McClelland Gallery and Sculpture Park, 390 McClelland Drive, Langwarrin. Entry to, and parking on the grounds are free. There'll be more demonstrations and items for sale that have been crafted by members of the Peninsula Woodturners Guild, in their purpose built workshop on the grounds of the Sculpture Park.
If you love the feel of a well made, handmade item, and you simply can't get away from being in love with all things made of wood, this is the place to be. An age-old craft done largely by hand, the artisans of this event are passionate about the perfection of the pieces they create. They have moulded and shaped, chiselled and smoothed on the lathe for your viewing and buying pleasure yet again.
In a fast world, it's refreshing to stop a moment and smell the beautiful timbers, and just be in the zone. You'll be up close and personal with the makers and demonstrators on the day, where your queries will be answered; and you can commission a piece you've always dreamed of owning.
There'll be utilitarian and sculptural pieces showcased. Put the dates in your diary, as you wouldn't want to miss these finely crafted pieces. Make it a fun day out with family and friends, and enjoy the restaurant/cafe on the grounds overlooking lawns, lake and the native bushland setting. Surrounded by remarkable modern Australian sculptures, it complements the experience of the outstanding exhibitions you can visit at the Sculpture Park while you're there.
If you'd like to know more about the PWG, this is the time to find out. If you've already got your heart set on being one of this band of merry artisans, they have an application you can download on their website.
