The Peninsula Toy Run is a spectacle with spirit. Dressed up and loaded like chrome-plated Santa's with their sacks full of gifts and goodies, they rumble their way down the Peninsula to Rosebud where the donations are officially handed over to Santa's other helpers for distribution to those most in need within our community.
Always held on the first Saturday in December, this year the Peninsula Toy Run falls on Saturday 3 December 2016. Everyone is welcome to turn out and watch the riders assemble in the Frankston pier car park from 7.30am. With prizes on offer for the best-dressed rider, competition is fierce, providing plenty of colour and pageantry on this special day.
Breakfast is served by Sofia's Family Restaurant (located on the Pier Promenade), open from 7.30am especially for riders and patrons at this event. On offer from the takeaway window will be hot coffee along with fresh bacon and egg rolls and more.
Costume judging is conducted between 8.30am to 9.30am. Then the ride officially sets off at 9.30am. Anyone with a motorbike is welcome to participate, however, everyone can contribute to this worthy event. Bring your donation of a brand new toy, food or other Christmas related item and one of the riders will happily carry it for you. Donations are distributed amongst various charities located on the Mornington Peninsula via the Southern Peninsula Food For All charity.
The Frankston Pier Promenade is located on the Nepean Highway just south of the Frankston CBD, or find a spot along the route to watch the riders going past. They will be taking the scenic coast road, and a map of the route is located on the Peninsula Toy Run website. The riders will follow the Nepean Highway all the way to Rosebud Secondary College where they will officially hand over their gifts.
