Laugh for fun and fitness with this unique aerobic workout
How can one be happy when constantly faced with the challenges of life? There is a way with an innovative exercise that can trick the body into being happy without a reason to laugh.
Turn down the stress and energise your day with a unique concept called Laughter Yoga that can give you a boost of positivity and bring back that happy feeling. An exercise sweeping the world, Laughter Yoga is a combination of yogic breathing and laughter exercises with 15 minutes of continuous laughter giving you an aerobic workout.
Laughter Yoga was founded by a medical doctor named, Dr Madan Kataria in 1995 in Mumbai, India and promotes emotional, physical and spiritual health. Beginning with only five people, there a now more than 6000 social clubs in 60 countries around the world.
Without relying on jokes or comedy, laughter exercises create simulated laughter, and feel-good hormones are produced in the brain which turns into real laughter within minutes.
A typical laughter session includes clapping and movement around the group to produce energy and playful laughter exercises to create inner joy and mirthful laughter.
When someone is laughing it can trigger laughter in others too. This is one of the principles of Laughter Yoga as laughter becomes contagious when participants move through the group making eye contact and seeing others laughing.
Laughter Yoga has been proven to increase oxygen flow around the body and improve circulation which can bring on a radiant glow. The benefits are many and a fifteen minute session of full belly laughter will leave you feeling refreshed and energised.
Attending a Laughter club regularly will help to unwind the negative effects of stress, boost your immune system and connect with ones natural ability to laugh. And best of all, anyone can do it.
