Help break a World Record
If you have never been to Penguin Island just off Rockingham, 18th of April 2015 is the perfect excuse to visit. Not only will you be surrounded by penguin enthusiasts, everyone including yourself will be dressed up in penguin costumes, waddling around as part of a mass attempt to break the Guiness World Record for the most people dressed as penguins in one place!
The current record stands at 900 people at Penguin Island in Victoria so do your part and flock to Rockingham Wild Encounters at 153 Arcadia Drive as you become part of history! The event also celebrates National Youth Week and runs from 7 am to 11am.
The best part about running around with lots of people in penguin costumes is that it is not just a one-off photo opportunity. You actually get to keep the full penguin costume (hooded onesies with claw flippers) to be used for dress-up parties, pub crawls, bucks night costumes and wherever else you feel like rocking up as a penguin.
The $31.50 entry price includes free return ferry transfers to Penguin Island. This departs 7.30am so meet at 7 am at Rockingham Wild Encounters on the day and it is a 5 minute ferry ride across to the island. There is also a BBQ brunch celebration at Lion's Park Shoalwater after the exciting world record attempt.
Other activities at Penguin Island include penguin feeding and exploring the nature trails and boardwalks with spectacular views. Penguin Island is primarily a conversation, park so facilities are kept to a minimum. See nature at its best. Bookings are essential and the event may fill up quickly.
