These days, it is rare to enter a restaurant or cafe and to be made to feel like you are part of the family, but that is exactly what you will find when dining at Peggy on Rose.

With a background from Burma and a long history of amazing restaurants, there is an eclectic array of flavours and spices that seem to make their way into all dishes at this quirky little cafe.

From the outside, it looks like any other little street cafe, yet the flavours are what will really set the dishes apart here.

On our visit, we chose some sweet corn fritters and were expecting the usual muffin-style frittata, however, there were some very subtle and interesting flavours that came through which I can't quite put my finger on. Instead of a bland item, it was extremely light and delicious and in place of the usual heavy dollops of sour cream, it was garnished with a delicate and unusual yoghurt dressing - which made for a delicious experience.

If it is just simply a breakfast or brunch that you are after, you will get generous serving here with eggs done the way you like them, a range of farm fresh vegetables and even vegetarian sausages if you prefer them to the meat variety.

Although they don't as yet have a liquor licence, they are hoping to have one in the near future. For now, they have the usual teas, coffees, juices and cold drinks.

If you are popping in for morning tea, you may enjoy homemade muffins and cakes that are baked fresh each morning filled with delicious fruits and lovely sauces.

As Peggy on Rose is directly opposite the Essendon train station, it is a perfect place to pop in and grab a takeaway coffee or tea and a lovely snack to go from the muffin selection, or perhaps something savoury. Sure to be a fast favourite, each morning they make homestyle freshly made sausage rolls with light fluffy pastry or you can grab a sandwich on the go or sit down for a full meal.

Named after the owner, Peggy will look after you with a smile and a friendly disposition.
