As a sanctuary of relaxation and rejuvenation on Hutt Street in Adelaide, The Pear Day Spa is a beacon for those in need of a time out from daily life. Just stepping from the busy city street and into the day spa is instantly soothing. It is decorated with eco-chic cross French provincial flair and a serene water feature welcomes you to the spacious spa, which intends to cultivate wellness from the inside out.
First impressions count and The Pear Day Spa makes an unforgettable one. Your day spa daydream begins in the ambient reception area that is filled with light, warmth, and luxury. The term reception area does not really do the space justice; relaxation lounge would be a more accurate description.
In fact, you could potentially sit here for a good part of the day – sipping herbal tea, refreshing with complimentary warm towels, and listening to the gentle trickle of the waterfall – and then leave calm and perfectly content. That would probably be considered loitering though, or at the very least a nuisance, and I imagine it would still cost a pretty penny, so best book a treatment to get the whole Pear experience.
Rest assured that the signature brand of comfort and class extends to the treatment rooms and the treatments themselves. The Pear Day Spa offers luxurious spa therapies with Pevonia Botanica, a highly effective skincare line used in some of the world's most elite spas.
Not only does Pevonia Botanica achieve outstanding results, but it is a point of difference for The Pear Day Spa. In our Dermalogica dominated state, there are only a handful of spas in South Australia with access to the range.
It is worth raving about, so here goes: Pevonia Botanica is a cruelty-free brand that uses organic extracts and essential oils with environmentally friendly packaging. No need to fret about parabens, formaldehyde, sodium laurel sulphate, mineral oil, alcohol, and other skin sins as there are none of those here.
There is a product to suit every skin type and condition. If it is visible improvements you seek, The Pear Day Spa can provide organic and high performance facials, as well as advanced treatments, such as microdermabrasion and skin renewing peels.
Revitalising body treatments, like massage, scrubs, and wraps are available to reduce muscular tension, boost circulation, and improve skin tone. All your beauty needs are catered for with manicures, pedicures, waxing, tinting, and tanning included on the spa menu. Couples and groups can even be accommodated on the premises.
The spa therapists are courteous and knowledgeable providing a professional treatment and offering expert advice when required. There is some emphasis on home care and encouragement to purchase products, which are worth the investment and will prolong the benefits of your treatment.
There is nothing average about this day spa and the treatment prices are slightly above average when compared to a suburban spa, but on a par with those based in the city. It is the price you pay for quality, but you can nab a bargain with monthly specials advertised on The Pear Day Spa website and generous discounts regularly offered on their Facebook page.
It is open from Monday to Saturday and has extended trading hours three days of the week. Parking can be found near the spa on Hutt Street and its surrounding streets, but be sure to check signage as parking is limited to a couple of hours.
With the exception of parking and despite the fact that it is a busy establishment, perhaps the most pleasant aspect is that time does not seem to matter much here. It is nice to be able to unwind after a treatment, for your senses to flutter back to earth before facing the flurry of life outside, and not be rushed out the door as can happen at other spas. The Pear Day Spa is a truly sublime spa experience, as luscious and nourishing as the fruit itself.
