Peanut butter is one of the things that people absolutely love or hate and with so many people having allergies, that adds an interesting twist to whether this is a great recipe or something to be highly avoided.

A friend of mine came across this unusual drink at a bar in America and we have spent several attempts trying to re-create it. The one we have finally managed is actually pretty impressive. The original ingredients are those found in America and not widely available in Australia however, with a few tweaks and twists we have been able to re-create it pretty effectively.

If you like rich creamy and decadent things that taste like peanut butter, you're sure to love this one.

The original recipe consisted of:
%%Peanut butter ice cream
Captain Morgan spiced rum
Peanut butter
Spices
Whipped cream%%

If you prefer to make this as a mocktail, you can simply leave out the rum. All ingredients were placed into a cocktail shaker and shaken well.

But here is how we re-created it:

Place 2 generous scoops of Sara Lee vanilla and butterscotch ice cream Into the food processor or blender. (You can use any decadent ice cream that you can find for this that has a creamy and caramel flavour to it)

Add 1 cup of milk

Pour in a shot of spiced rum if you can find it, if not plain brown or white rum will do.

Add a tablespoon of peanut butter.

Add a pinch of mixed spice and half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder.

Whisk up the entire set of ingredients in the blender.

Pour into a serving glass or two.

Top with whipped cream from an spray can or whisk up the cream yourself and pipe it on the top of the drink in the glasses.

Sprinkle with an little cinnamon or chopped nuts.

Just delicious!

Have you got an idea of some amazing ice cream or ingredient that you would substitute in this recipe ?
