Food with a view of the mighty Hunter River. is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 11.30am and text bookings are preferred. Built in 1797 and extended in 1904, the Georgian building is located in a historic part of Newcastle.
The menu is based around modern Mediterranean flavours with plenty of share dishes. For those who want to sample a bit of everything, they also have a fixed price feast. There are gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options of many dishes
All of the food was nicely presented and delicious. The lamb rump on sweet potato mash was perfectly cooked and very tasty. There is a relaxing ambiance that is enhanced by the helpful friendly waitstaff, as well as the lovely views.
Most of the downstairs part of is open to the outside, as is the upstairs verandah. Although casual and relaxed, the space is also suitable for romantic intimate dining as the well-spaced tables are dressed with white tablecloths. They will cater for functions and also hold special event dinners such as an upcoming fixed menu Valentine's Day dinner.
