Statistics say "human attention span" is at its lowest since the advancement of technology and it could be as little as eight seconds!! You only need to look around a room at work meetings or children's classrooms to know that the attention you may have at the beginning of the discussion has long gone.
Yet there is still a need to be heard or listened to especially when times are tough. It is a vicious circle, if we do not show we have time to listen to our children, they grow into adults that do not have time to listen to others either.
On Monday 11th February 2010 at the City of Tea Tree Gully Library in Modbury South Australia, your children will have the pleasure of sitting down with a trained therapy dog who loves listening to children read books. The event is scheduled for 4.00 to 5.30pm with each reading sessions being fifteen minutes duration. The event will also be run on Monday 25th February at the same time.
Children are welcome to bring along a reader, although there will be plenty available to choose. Once you have chosen your date and registered online at
Eventbrite, you will receive a telephone call or email from one of the team to confirm details. This event is free.
There is no denying the bond between dogs and their owners, which is especially captivating between a child and an animal, perhaps because the pureness of a child allows open connectivity.
This a great intuitive from the Library who recognises the need for children to be listened to as well as expanding a child's confidence. The address for the
City of Tea Tree Gully Library is 571 Montague Road
Modbury . Don't forget to
register!
